Organization
An inventory relating to the activities and organizational boundaries defined, with relevant direct and indirect emissions.
TèKHNE / SERVICES
We define the scope, data and calculation criteria to assess greenhouse gas emissions and connect the results to the organisation's choices.
A carbon footprint is useful if the data is traceable and the perimeter is clear.
We agree on the subject of the analysis, the period and the information sources. We collect energy consumption and other relevant data, verify quality and completeness and make the calculation hypotheses explicit.
The result helps to recognize the most relevant sources and compare possible actions. Emissions analysis can be integrated with energy management and broader life cycle assessments when required.
An inventory relating to the activities and organizational boundaries defined, with relevant direct and indirect emissions.
An assessment referring to a functional unit and the life cycle phases included in the study.
The main sources become criteria for evaluating interventions, priorities and updates over time.
02 / THE PERIMETER
Results from studies with different boundaries or methods are not automatically comparable. For this reason the perimeter is defined before data collection.
We identify relevant locations, activities and emission categories. Fuel consumption, purchased energy and other flows are read according to the study boundaries.
We define the functional unit and the phases to include. Materials, production, transportation, use and end of life are considered when relevant to the specific project.
03 / THE PATH
The quality of the result depends on the quality of the data and the transparency of the method.
We establish the subject, period, reference unit and categories to analyze.
We organize relevant consumption and flows, identifying estimates and missing data.
We apply documented criteria and factors, making the contributions of the different sources readable.
We share results, limitations and improvement options to follow over time.
04 / THE RESULTS
The carbon footprint describes the greenhouse gas emissions in the chosen perimeter. It does not alone represent all environmental impacts and does not automatically equate to certification.
Management systems and certifications ↗Boundaries, period, sources, exclusions and hypotheses declared to correctly interpret the data.
Results disaggregated as needed to recognize the most significant sources.
Reduction opportunities and data to improve, to be evaluated together with the technical and economic constraints.
05 / AGENDA 2030
The United Nations 2030 Agenda links social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. Its 17 Goals help to read the choices in a broader perspective than the single intervention.

Efficiency and renewable energy relate in particular to Goal 7; infrastructure and innovation to Goal 9; sustainable cities and communities to Goal 11; responsible resource use to Goal 12; and climate action to Goal 13. The contribution of a project must be evaluated with data and indicators referring to its context.
06 / REFERENCES
References are chosen based on the subject of the study. Any independent verification is a separate step from the calculation.

No. The object, reference unit, boundaries and required data change. The first step is to clarify which decision the study should support.
Indicates the greenhouse gas emissions of the analyzed perimeter. For broader judgments, other relevant environmental, social and economic indicators are needed.
No, but it is necessary to distinguish measures, estimates and gaps. The quality of the data determines the robustness of the conclusions and the priorities for improvement of the collection.
